Consultancy of a nature film production of brown bears in Turkey

Ece Soydam form the turkish TV TRT asked my to assist in preparing a documantary about brown bears in Turkey. I was in Turkey for about 2 weeks from April 23 until May 7 in 2008.

Ece told me that she actually would like to continue our cooperation, becouse it was very helpful for her. Unfortunatly does she not has the budget for it. She only could cover the cost for travalling and accomodation.

It was just great.

my task was to visit numerous bear den sites and to tell if it is a used den site of brown bears and to discuss

how to film in it and around and how to minimize the risk for the camera crew. Not only caves are of interest for filming.

trees where bears are marking or water holes for example in caves or in the forest or near settlements.

Ece asked many hunters and gamewardens about there knowlegde and they where guiding us to the different places.

like I know it form all areas with bears, they feed on garbage if it is available. The local tukish people where

always very friendly and where inviting us for tee and lunch.

We were driving about 4000km in Turkey and had phantastic hikes. It was extremly interesting. In Turkey life many different wild animal species, like brown bears, wolves, lynx, caracal, leopard, hyena, voltures, eagle, wild sheep, deer, wild boar, mountain goat and many more.
